Upon arrival, the establishment was nearly empty, with only three occupied tables and one customer awaiting a to-go order. When I inquired whether the bar was open, the hostess directed me to take a seat there. I then spent several minutes downloading the East Coast Wings app, creating an account, entering my personal information, verifying my contact details, adjusting my phone’s location settings, retrieving a generated password from Google Password Manager, and enabling fingerprint authentication—all while receiving neither greeting nor drink order.
I remained seated and unacknowledged for 7 to 10 minutes, an unacceptable lapse in basic service.
Most telling: the very employee who had directed me to the bar observed me depart without a word, her attention consumed instead by scrolling on her phone and leaning on the wall.
